Two fleet 43 boats participated in the District 1 Championships in Scituate this past weekend. The Scituate fleet and Scituate Harbor Yacht club put on a fun and welcoming event.
Congratulations to Mr. Hankey for their 5th place finish and Steve for their 7th place finish.

Launch: Saturday May 22nd is the Fleet 43 launch at Handy Boat Service starting at 8:00 am. Please have your $50 ready to pay for the launch. (The boats traveling to Districts will launch at a different time before the 26th.)
Fleet Fees: Shelly Paules, our fleet treasurer, will be on site at the Launch to collect fleet dues, series registration, and food fees. Remember that all fees must be paid in order to be scored in the Wednesday Night Series.
Wednesday Night Series: May 26th marks the start of Wednesday Night Series I. The crew of Mr. Hankey will be starting us off on Race Committee. Hope to see you all out there!
Rules Seminar: Don’t forget to sign up for the rules seminar with Dick Rose to be held at the Black Point Inn on June 21st. This is a fleet 43 sponsored event- it would be great to see a lot of fleet members in attendance. For more details on the seminar click here.

As a non-member or member of PYC or Fleet 43, being a part of the Fleet’s Wednesday night races and other activities is truly a fantastic opportunity. Whether you have raced with the Fleet for years or are just getting involved, you have most likely already benefited from the experience. The Fleet provides us with an incredible forum for competitive racing, socializing, and enjoying the waterfront of Falmouth Foreside.
By becoming a Friend of Fleet 43, you can give back to the Fleet. Your support will help offset any potential rise in racing dues and food costs to ensure Wednesday night racing attracts as many boats as possible and remains as competitive as it is today. Friends of Fleet 43 pay just $20 per year and receive a sticker to proudly display your involvement in and support of the Fleet.
Display the sticker on your car and honk when you see another “Friend of Fleet 43” on the road! Or display it on your transom and let all those boats behind you know where you learned to sail so fast!

This message serves to promote what is expected to be the biggest and best Canadian J24 Championship held to date. We’re expecting about 40 boats, with representation from across Canada, Bermuda, the northeast US and possibly a few from Europe or Latin America.  The Atlantic Canadian fleet has gone from about 10 boats to more than 35 in the past 5 years and we’re now starting to grow even more quickly so we’re very keen to make this regatta a huge success. Next year, in 2011, we will host the North American Championship.

SailMaine is hosting a “Shakedown” Regatta Saturday June 5th. (Little do they know that our “shakedown” will have already happened on the 26th and the J24s will be race ready.)
The Regatta is offering to do a one design start if there are 4 or more boats registered. This is open to J24s, Etchelles, and Ynglings (Ynglings can be chartered from SailMaine.)
