Join us for our 20th Anniversary Downeast Regatta on beautiful Casco Bay. One of our state slogans boasts "Maine - the way life should be". We apply the same philosophy to our most famous J/24 regatta. Boats from near and far join us the weekend after Labor Day for great racing and guaranteed fun. We host a traditional Maine lobster bake featuring plentiful lobsters, clams, corn, chicken, locally brewed beer and all the fixings. Dinner is accompanied by live music from Dan Tonini's "Desperate Avikodoz" providing a wicked awesome night of food, dancing and fun. The die-hards then head next door to the SeaGrill bar or downtown to Portland's Old Port district for late night fun!
The City of Portland is only a few minutes from the Yacht Club featuring a robust nightlife with a variety of bars, Irish pubs, pool halls, dance clubs, and swanky people roaming the streets. Portland also boasts many
fine restaurants. For instance, Fore Street was recently ranked 16th of the nation's top 50 restaurants by Gourmet Magazine. For a comprehensive listing visit
www.portlandmaine.com.
Arrive a few days early or stay on after the regatta. You can visit lots of beautiful places
with your own boat or on the Casco Bay Ferry Line. For more information on things
to do in the bay, you can check out the Casco Bay Line site at www.cascobaylines.com.
If you want to venture further Downeast during your stay, you'll be within
striking distance of beautiful places like Acadia National Park (3 hrs, www.nps.gov/acad),
Boothbay Harbor (1.5 hrs, www.boothbayharbor.com)
or Camden (2 hrs, www.camdenme.org).
You can also shop the famous outlets in Freeport (15 minutes, www.freeportusa.com)
including L.L.Bean's flagship retail store.
Our generous sponsors make this event possible!
